UCC is the first University in the world to receive an International Green Flag for environmental friendliness and the first third-level institution to achieve the ISO 50001 standard for energy management. The university’s sustainable policies have extended to include their student and staff restaurants. In 2013 UCC became Ireland’s first University to receive SRA recognition. Managed by KSG – Ireland’s fastest-growing commercial catering business – UCC’s fifteen “KSG” venues cater for 20,000 full-time students and 2,750 staff serving fresh food, confectionery, barista coffee and innovative, nutritionally-analysed menus in a variety of attractive and atmospheric settings.
